Privacy Policy

Reel Citrus LLC (“Reel Citrus,” “we,” “us”) is a film distribution and release company based in Los Angeles, California. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and share information when you visit reelcitrus.com (the “Site”), join the Watch Club, request or host a screening, submit a film, or otherwise contact us (together, the “Services”).

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Watch Club sign-ups: first and last name, email address and city.
  • Screening requests and partner inquiries: name, email, organization, city and details about the screening you’d like to host.
  • Film submissions: your name, contact details, company, and information and materials about your film, including screener links.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email or through the Site.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Site, our website platform and the tools we use may automatically collect device and usage information, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring links and approximate location based on IP address. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Information from others

We may receive information from partners we work with on a release, such as cinemas, screening hosts, community organizations and creators, for example when a partner refers you to a screening.

2. How we use information

  • To run the Watch Club, including sending invitations to free preview screenings and release news.
  • To respond to screening requests, partnership and sponsorship inquiries, and film submissions.
  • To plan and promote theatrical releases, including deciding which cities to bring films to.
  • To operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site.
  • To comply with the law and protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

3. How we share information

  • Service providers that help us run the Site and our communications, such as our website platform (Squarespace), email service (Flodesk), newsletter platform (Substack) and video host (YouTube). They handle information under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • Release partners, only when needed to deliver what you asked for, such as passing a screening request to a cinema or to a film’s rights holder.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Reel Citrus, our users or others.
  • Business transfers: if Reel Citrus is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

4. Cookies and analytics

Cookies help the Site work and show us how it’s used. Our website platform sets necessary and analytics cookies. Embedded videos and fonts load from third parties (such as YouTube and Google), which may set their own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work properly without them.

Some browsers send “Do Not Track” signals. Because there is no common standard for these signals, the Site does not currently respond to them.

5. Your choices

  • Email: unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by writing to us.
  • Access, correction and deletion: email hello@reelcitrus.com to request a copy of your personal information, or to ask us to correct or delete it.

6. California residents

If you live in California, you may ask us whether we have disclosed your personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not make those disclosures. To the extent California privacy laws apply to us, you may also request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, and we will not discriminate against you for making a request. Send requests to hello@reelcitrus.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

7. Children

The Services are meant for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Retention and security

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, and then delete it. We use reasonable measures to protect it, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

9. Where information is processed

Reel Citrus is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the U.S. and elsewhere. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., including from Canada, your information will be processed in the United States.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date.
